Gerald Frank Diez, first generation born in this country, is truly an inspiration to all Hispanic entrepreneurs. Mr. Diez's father came to this country to escape the plight and savage political wars in Spain. In doing so, he hoped his son, Jerry, would benefit from the "American Dream." Jerry's family did not, however, reap the fruits of success quickly. His struggle which is not unfamiliar to anyone of us was that of poverty and discrimination. Mr. Diez instilled strong family values, honesty, and hard work as the key to any success in life. With the strength of his family and the strong Hispanic heritage, Jerry Diez ventured into the world of entrepreneurship. Jerry, as he is best known, is the owner of Delaco Steel, Lapeer Metal Stamping Company, Delaco Steel Processing L.L. C., April Steel and JIT. The Diez Family work together as the foundation of the day-to-day running of the various businesses. Each member of the Diez Family has inherited and are proud to display the values passed down from their father and grandfather as "just hard work." This hard work concept is displayed in the various projects the family and Jerry are committed to, one of which, is nationally recognized Focus Hope, including the technology center as well as the nutrition centers throughout the Southeast Michigan. It has always been the philosophy of Jerry to give back to the community, because it creates a positive attitude for the greater good of a community and investing in the members of the community by employing them and providing an opportunity for economic empowerment, one person at a time. |
